The two major workers’ unions in the oil and gas industry on Tuesday resolved to immediately shelve their ongoing strike and the one planned for January 9, 2017.
The decision to shelve the actions was taken by the leaderships of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, after their meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, Tuesday in Abuja.
The two unions had threatened to embark on a three-day nationwide warning strike by January 9, 2017, over what they termed “anti-labour practices by International Oil Companies (IOCs).”
The threat followed allegations by the Chevron Nigeria Limited chapter of the NUPENG that about 250 of its members were sacked by the company after declaring their contract not binding, because it could not trace the company that employed them as contract workers.
Again, PENGASSAN members working in ExxonMobil were to embark on a protest penultimate Wednesday, which grounded normal business at the company’s operations headquarters at Qua Iboe terminal, Ibeno and the company’s Lagos office.

A Lady Served Meat That Looks Like Male Genital At A Restaurant

A lady identified as Akosua has narrated how she was served a 'banana'-like meat at a restaurant she bought food at Pokuase in Accra, Ghana.

The lady said she went to buy food at the eatery only for her to discover a male-looking genital in her food after almost finishing the meal. She said:

"I had gone to get some food from the food joint because I was hungry and my preferred choice was Tuo Zaafi which I bought and took home to eat, I had eaten all the other meat in the soup and was about finishing off with the biggest piece when I noticed the funny looking meat which looked like a male genital organ." She also stated that she alerted her family about the strange meal she ate and they all laughed about it saying they will feed it to the dog before her sister insisted that an investigation should be put in place either by reporting it to the police or the laboratory...
"My sister opted to show it to a lab technician friend later, who said because the meat was cooked, an ordinary lab test wouldn’t be able to prove it to be animal or human. He advised a forensic test be done on it but considering the bureaucratic processes these things go through, we gave up and the meat lies in our fridge."

As America Elects New President Today

The people of the United States of America goes to the polls today to vote in the 45th President of the country. To many watchers within and outside the country, fondly described by its citizens as ‘God’s-own-country’, the people will not only be performing their civic responsibility; they will be putting the country’s over 200-year-old democracy to test once again.

The last time American voters faced such an onerous task was 2008, when the then Senator Barack Obama, a Democratic Party candidate, broke the jinx by emerging the first black to be sworn-in as President after a keenly contested election.

This time, the race for the White House is clear,

neck-to-neck between former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, who is the standard bearer of the Democrats and the Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

While one is on the verge of making history as the first woman to be sworn in as President of the US, the other is a highly successful entrepreneur and vintage ‘money bag.’
