David Beckham causes stampede in China

During a recent visit to the Tongji University in Shanghai, ChinaDavid Beckham caused a commotion that left at least seven people injured.
BBC reports that Beckham was swarmed by 1,000 local fans on his arrival at the institution on Tuesday June 18, 2013, causing a stampede which left several police officers, university students and security guards injured.
The 38-year old soccer star was surrounded by security guards and remained unharmed during the fan frenzy.
Beckham who is in China as the official soccer ambassador to the country later posted a statement on his Weibo account (a Chinese social networking site) after the incident wishing the injured ‘a speedy recovery’.
